(Los Angeles, CA)  New Old Stock, designers and manufacturers of state-of-the-art container homes have scheduled an open house and tour of their latest offering here in Los Angeles.

Using cutting edge design and engineering, New Old Stock offers resilient, sustainably manufactured modified single-use high-cube shipping container units. Superior craftsmanship & quality materials are combined to enhance function & efficiency of each variation of New Old Stock’s micro-units.  Built to handle heavy loads and harsh climate conditions, containers can also be easily stacked to form multi-story homes.

Jason Halter, architect and co-owner offered the following, “Deteriorating economies, rising levels of pollution and rapid increases in population are forcing people to consider cheaper, quicker and more eco-friendly methods of construction.  By creating small house dwellings organized around an open space of covered deck (for hybrid multipurpose creative use), we are reinterpreting the base dwelling unit and reconceptualizing the everyday end use expectation.”

Structural steel spans open space between the two minor dwelling units, revealing living space  (left largely undefined spatially), awaiting definition by the activities of its inhabitants. The living spaces & containers are oriented with large glazing facing the courtyard deck so the building enjoys an outdoor mixing space.

Jeremy Kaplan, co-owner added, “We have a clearly defined mission…to construct long-life healthy micro-dwelling units of exceptional craftsmanship.  And through design, to promote sustainable and healthy building practices that exceed our clients’ expectations.  Our role as manufacturers is to make the design simple, economical and meaningful.  I believe we’ve been successful in that regard.”  The principals of New Old Stock invite all interested parties to tour the units during this open house.
